Travel along with visitors to America's largest national forest, the Tongass! And COMMENT by December 17 at the link in our bio!
The Tongass National Forest is the largest intact temperate rainforest in the planet. It's home to brown bears, black bears, mountain goats, and all five species of wild Alaska salmon, and it welcomes millions of visitors each year, for an annual regional economic impact of more than a billion dollars. That's under threat from timber lobbyists and politicians, who plan to strip protections from more than 9 million acres. The stripping of the landmark 2001 Roadless Rule would usher in roads, industrial development and a return of the taxpayer-subsidized, unsustainable clearcut old-growth logging of yesterday — threatening the region's biggest business, tourism, and the future of this wild place. .
It's not too late to defend the Tongass! Comment TODAY at the link in our profile. The deadline is midnight Alaska time on December 17. .
