I am still relatively new to commercial portrait photography. I have been a photographer for close to 6 years now, but a large portion of that time was learning, developing my style, and figuring out what type of work I love to make. Yes, I do think I am a good photographer, and I put value into the work I create, but I am still incredibly humbled when people reach out to me. One of the reasons I create a lot of personal fine art work is because it's easiest to understand MY vision. It really is a daunting task when someone asks to capture them, especially in a time of change. But it is one that I am fully leaning into. Hearing feedback for these photos is the most rewarding thing. Validation of my work is the reason I create. Not for fame or for likes. I create because if one person says, "That moved me" or "I can relate to that in some way," it means my work is affecting the world in a small but significant way. And when someone says, and I quote, "You absolutely captured everything I am, and I can't even vocalize what that is," that means everything to me.
