The biggest culture difference in my opinion between Asian and western culture, is work ethic. In the west we are so so fortunate to be able to be paid for working overtime; if we ever have to work late at all, and be able to retire at any age so long as we're financially capable. But in Asian countries, people don't simply retire. They work everyday until the day they're too weak (and even beyond as seen in the second image). Every market in every Asian country I've gone to, I've seen hunched over fragile elders working hard on their craft; whether at a food stall, making goods, performing services, or collecting cardboard to sell for hopefully a few dollars. It makes me think that becoming weaker with age is only a mindset.
Thank you for putting me in my place, grounding me, and making me realize on a daily basis that nothing is as bad as sometimes I complain about it being.
